EXHIBITION GLOSSARY TERMS - for exhibition trade show displays
F
Fabrication
The construction of an exhibition trade show stand.
Fast displays - pop up stands and banner stands are fast displays ideal for exhibition. They can be put into position an a matter of minutes.
Fabric banners - banners are most commonly printed onto PVC but Fabric banners or Canvas banners are becoming more popular. Ideal for art reproductions.
Fiber Optics
The use of cut glass fibers to display colored light in exhibition displays and graphics.
Fire Exit
A door designated for emergency egress, which must be kept clear of obstructions.
Fire Lane
An aisle that must be kept clear of obstructions to allow emergency egress.
Fire Retardant
Term used to describe a finish which coats materials with a fire-resistant (not fire proof) cover. Fire retardant PVC used for pvc fabric vinyl banners
Floor Manager
An individual representing show management who is responsible for the exhibition area.
Floor Graphics
Digitally printed large format graphics printed on to self adhesive vinyl and stuck to the floor for advertising and marketing messages..
Floor Plan
A map showing the size and locations of stands within an exhibition trade show hall.
Floor Port
A utility box recessed in the floor containing electrical, telephone, or plumbing connections.
Foam Core
Rigid foam covered with heavy paper stock used for mounting signs, art, etc.
Called gatofoam. Large format digitally printed graphics may be mounted and overlaminated on this lightweight material
Folding display panels. Also called folding display. aluminum or plastic frame with hinges. Folds out to create a free standing display. Folding display system panels are usually covered in loop nylon to take large format printed panels
Flag poles. - water based flag poles are ideal for trade shows and exhibitions. Flag poles are portable and have telescopic poles. Large format printing used to print flags
Folding display kits - available in a number of different combinations. From 3 panel table top units to floor standing 8 panel folding display boards with header. Folding exhibition kits normally comprise the display panels, carry bag and lights. also referred to as folding exhibition systems or folding portable displays
Flag printing - One off flags traditionally hand sewn. No often printed using large format digital printing. For large quantities screen or dye printing may be use.
Flag material -popular flag material is called woven polyester.
Flat panel stands - Use to hold monitors and computer screens. Also called plasma stands, LCD stands or TFT stands.
Forecourt signs - large version of pavement signs (sandwich boards, a boards, swing signs) used outside garages. Forecourt signs often take posters have weighted bases and may be fitted with spring for added stability
Free standing display - many different types such as sandwich boards and a boards. Easy to use and transport
Free Trade Zone
A port designated by the government of a country for duty-free entry of any non-prohibited goods.
Freight
Exhibit properties and other materials shipped for an exhibit.
Freight Desk
The area where inbound and outbound exhibit materials are handled at a trade show.
Freight Forwarder
A shipping company which handles export shipments for a fee
